History

The story of Energy Infrastructures Ltd., started in the 1930s, during the British Mandate in the Land of Israel.  Even then, the Haifa Port area was recognized for its strategic and economic importance, given its location as a key hub exporting petroleum and its derivatives. In 1931, an agreement was signed between the British High Commissioner and the Iraq Petroleum Company (I.P.C.), to lay an underground pipeline for transporting crude oil from Iraq, via Transjordan, to Haifa from where it would be exported in marine tankers. 

Following the Arab boycott of the State of Israel, and the subsequent total withdrawal of the British, the Israeli Government established National Petroleum Services, stepping into the shoes of the British company to operate the infrastructures on behalf of the State.

With the development of the Israeli economy and the expansion of economic and industrial operations in the center and south of the country, there was an increasing need to construct new fuel terminals, expand the transmission pipelines and increase storage capabilities.

During this period, essential fuel infrastructure was deployed throughout Israel which, to this day, constitutes a key foundation for the country’s energy security. 
 

The company continuously analyzes both local and global energy trends, climate challenges and global changes. Recognizing that fossil energy sources are losing their dominance and that preparation for alternative fuels and clean energies is required, the company has formulated a new strategic program which includes entry into advanced energy fields.  As part of this concept, the company’s name was changed to Energy Infrastructures Ltd.
