Energy Infrastructures Ltd., runs an extensive storage system for both crude and refined oil, including fuel oil, diesel oil, kerosene and gasoline. The company operates seven tank farms throughout Israel. The storage infrastructure combines storage containers of various capacities both above and below ground, dedicated pumping systems and operational support systems tailored to the specific purpose and needs of each farm.
The tank farm is connected to the national network of underground transmission lines, providing a direct connection to the energy sector‘s major consumers, as well as to marine terminal facilities, constituting a central part of the country’s energy infrastructure.
The company’s storage facilities comply with accepted international industry standards, and operate under the strict regulatory guidelines for safety, firefighting, environmental quality, operations, maintenance and construction.
The company operates advanced control and monitoring systems, based on BAT (Best Available Techniques) technologies, to ensure safe, efficient and responsible operation while safeguarding the environment and national functional continuity.
Transport
Energy Infrastructures Ltd.’s storage facilities are linked to a national underground pipeline grid of approximately 1,000 km. This infrastructure features both dedicated pipelines and multi-product pipelines, which enable the controlled transmission of crude oil and refined products from supply sources to storage tank farms and ultimately to major consumers in Israel’s economy.
Among the company’s clients are essential authorities in the energy sector: power plants for producing electricity, refineries, fuel company dispensing facilities, Ben Gurion Airport, the Leviathan offshore gas field, military airfields and fuel storage farms.
Energy Infrastructures Ltd., ensures complete safety of the pipelines and fuel flow. This is why our national control system operates an advanced real-time leak detection system, alongside a patrol unit providing constant physical security along the pipeline routes, in compliance with the system’s legal requirements and engineering-operational needs.
Cathodic Protection Systems are used to protect the fuel pipelines against corrosion thereby ensuring the long-term integrity of infrastructure and operational continuity of the entire energy sector in Israel.
Distribution
Energy Infrastructures Ltd., operates a container distribution facility at the Eshel Hanassi site.
This distribution facility provides services to various local marketing companies, allowing efficient, controlled and safe distribution of the main three fuel products:
The distribution facility was designed and is operated in conformity with strict safety, firefighting, environmental and operational standards. It is equipped with advanced control systems for managing tanker movement, measuring quantities and ensuring the quality of the dispensed fuel.
The site provides a positive operational response for the marketing companies, while meeting the regulatory requirements and significant volumes of activity. It provides an ideal combination of professional management, advanced infrastructure and meticulous work procedures for ensuring reliable, continuous and safe supply of fuel products to the Israeli market, both routinely and in emergencies.
Port Activity
Energy Infrastructures Ltd., operates a vital and significant port infrastructure system which includes petrol ports and marine terminals in Haifa and Ashkelon. This system is a key component in Israel’s energy supply chain enabling the continuous and professional transmission of crude oil and its products.
Through its fuel port operations, Energy Infrastructures Ltd., supplies unloading and loading services for crude oil and its products, as well as refueling services, discharge of ballast and bilge water. The fuel products received are pumped into a storage system at the company’s fuel tank farms from where they are pumped to the refineries and to Israel’s major fuel consumers.
The company’s marine terminals allow safe unloading of the tankers by connecting to an underwater pipeline coupled to the tanker in the open sea. Alternatively, there is a dedicated fuel jetty where vessels can moor for unloading.
Leveraging the vast professional experience and advanced operational capabilities accumulated in port operations, the company is currently advancing the new petrol ports in Haifa and Ashdod. These facilities are expected to significantly expand Israel’s absorption, storage and transmission capabilities of energy products, thereby establishing an advanced infrastructural response to the economy’s needs for decades to come.
In line with Government decisions and the national economic policy, port development is transitioning towards an energy sector focused on importing refined products. The goal is to ensure Israel can reliably receive, store and distribute large volumes of energy products.
The ports will support the intake, storage and transmission of high-capacity energy products, while utilizing advanced safety, operational and environmental protection standards, serving as a mainstay in boosting energy security and operational redundancy across Israel’s energy sector.
As part of a commitment to national responsibility, the ports will follow an Open Access model while affording all the actors in the energy sector equal access to one single, advanced infrastructure.
This model is designed to encourage fair competition, market stability and economic growth, while reinforcing the reliability of energy product supply to the Israeli market.
