From its role as a company operating and developing national fuel infrastructures, Energy Infrastructures Ltd., is evolving into a national platform which accelerates the transition of innovative energy technologies from the R&D and lab stages, to the demonstration stage, and proof of viability under real-world operational conditions.
 

From the Idea - to proving feasibility in the field

In accordance with the approval of the Board of Directors of Energy Infrastructures Ltd., the company has submitted an application for support as part of the Innovation Authority for establishing a National Testing Facility for Clean Fuels.

Energy Infrastructures Ltd., was awarded a ILS. 13m grant, with 50% of the total budget being financed through the company’s own capital.

As part of this initiative, the National Testing Facility for Clean Fuels was established at the Eshel site, to enable Israeli companies to put their technologies to the test under real-world operational conditions, while using Energy Infrastructures Ltd.’s national infrastructure, its professional expertise, engineering capabilities and regulatory know-how.
 

The Objective:

To fast-track energy innovation from the lab to the field – while proving feasibility for industrial and commercial implementation. 

This is the connection that is currently missing for a significant portion of innovative energy technologies both in Israel and globally.
 

"The Valley of Death” of Energy Innovation

One of the main barriers to new energy technologies is the transition from the R&D phase to an industrial demonstration facility.

At this phase, the entrepreneurs need significant resources for establishing infrastructures, handling safety demands, meeting regulatory requirements and testing performance under real-world conditions.
This gap – called The Valley of Death of Energy Innovation – could delay or even prevent promising technologies from reaching the market.

The Testing Facility of Energy Infrastructures Ltd., is designed to bridge just this gap.

Instead of every company investing in an expensive and complex operational infrastructure, our testing facility will enable them to conduct demonstrations in a dedicated, controlled and real-world industrial conditions.

National Innovation Infrastructure

Next-generation Technologies Showcased at the Facility

The facility is slated to be used as a platform for a variety of clean fuels, SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel), hydrogen technologies and electricity production.

Clean Fuels and SAF

Clean

A process for purifying and enhancing oils and fats from various sources, to enable their continued processing and refining in order to create advanced fuels, including raw materials for the SAF industry.

Sansevieria

Technology for converting plastic waste into advanced fuel products, while integrating cleaning and refining processes into the system.

The oil cleaning and refining process will be tested at the Testing Facility of Energy Infrastructures Ltd., as part of the transition from laboratory technology to an applied process in an industrial environment. 

The transition to sustainable aviation fuel is one of the main areas in the development of the global energy market. The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure specifies that SAF can be produced from a variety of raw material, such as oil and fat waste, biomass, municipal waste and hydrogen.

 

Generating Electricity from Advanced Fuels

Metryon Technologies

Provides advanced technology generating fuel cell power and converting diverse fuels into electrical energy.

This system is designed for the transport sector, including trucks, buses and cars, combining high energy efficiency while actively reducing emissions.

 

Hydroden – Production, Storage and Production of Electricity

NewGen Energy Ltd.

Provides a solution for solid-state energy storage which can be converted to hydrogen and electricity, upon demand.

Their technology addresses one of the major hurdles of the future energy market – energy storage and making it available upon demand.
 

Grafenika

Offers the development of autonomous generators based on the next generation of hydrogen fuel cells, designed to supply clean, quiet, efficient and competitive electricity.
